Saint Lyphard
The town is located on the peninsula of Guérande which is known for its 800 thatched houses: famous houses with thatched roofs made of straw from wheat, rye and reed stems. From the top of the famous pink bell tower of Saint-Lyphard, there is an exceptional view of the Regional Nature Reserve of Brière and you can appreciate the extent of the second largest wetland in Europe. The village of Kerhinet, an emblematic site of the Regional Nature Reserve of Brière, is located 4km away from the town centre. This place is promising of quiet, relaxation and serenity. For gourmets, there is a traditional market every Thursday during summer.
Guerande
The medieval city of Guérande is known for its legendary salt which can be found in its purest form “fleur de sel” or in the state of grey salt. The fortified city is located 10 km from the campsite and is worth the trip. With family or friends, you will find many things to see and do (restaurants, typical shops selling hand-crafted goods, museums…). At the gates of Guérande, you will be mesmerised by the numerous salt-harvesting villages and their authenticity (Saillé, Batz-sur-mer, Kervalet). You will find museums to help you understand this unique know-how handwork (Maison du Paludier, Terre de sel).
La Baule
La Baule is located 15km from the Fleur de Brière campsite. Renowned for its bay (one of the longest in Europe), the city is also well-known for its villas displaying exceptional and old architecture, its prestigious hotels and its sport activities (The Jumping of La Baule, tennis courts, a golf course). You can eat in many beach restaurants and stroll along fanciful avenues (Avenue Général de Gaulle).
Saint-Nazaire
French capital of shipbuilding (one of the biggest sites in the world “Chantiers de l’Atlantique”) and of aeronautics (Airbus), the city has an incredible history that deserves to be heard. Dynamic and extensive, it offers different contrasting lookout points and will seduce young and old alike. There is a seafront with restaurants, a skate park and the Escal’Atlantic museum which will teach you about the history of its greatest liners. Considered by many as the most beautiful beach of Saint-Nazaire, Monsieur Hulot beach in Saint-Marc-sur-Mer will offer you a bit of quiet away from the crowd of the bay of La Baule.
Nantes
Historic capital of Brittany, the city will transport you while it is still accessible by public transport. Its attractions are numerous and combine eras and styles: the Castle of the Dukes of Brittany, the Machines de l’île and its Jules Vernes museum, the Pommeraye Arcade. Combining dynamism and serenity, Nantes is an astonishing city which is full of finds but where it is also possible to find yourself in a quieter place on the banks of the Erdre or else in the colourful village of Trentemoult (by Navi’Bus).
