In April: Discovery of edible seaweed in South Brittany

Nothing beats a stay in Southern Brittany to discover the joys of seaside strolls and shore fishing. Less known, however, are the edible seaweeds abundant in Pays de la Loire, proving to be excellent additions to your recipes. From their benefits to harvesting, brown, red, and green seaweeds will soon hold no secrets for you.

On April 19 and 20, the town of Piriac offers a discovery outing on these beaches. Join a small group to learn about the identification of marine algae, their harvesting, and conclude the journey with a tasting session featuring numerous recipe ideas to impress your friends.

On the tip of Croisic, meet Valérie and Les Jardins de la Mer, an aquaculture site created by her parents in 1968. The team will be delighted to teach you their expertise to promote good practices and adhere to an eco-responsible approach during initiation workshops. On the south side of the Loire, Spiruline De Retz welcomes you to its "Spiruline paysanne" microalgae farm during free visits. Hugo will be happy to receive you and teach you about the harvesting process and its health benefits. The warm farm gives you access to a sales point with many variations of products, each as interesting as the other: Mix sachet for seasoning your dishes, dried marine algae, spirulina in twig form.
